What size cordyline am I purchasing?
Your cordyline prior to dispatch will be growing in a 50% shadehouse. As these are well established young plants with a healthy root system, the size of the plant can vary depending on the variety chosen. The photograph displayed in the shop is of a mature cordyline, and some young varieties do not display these colours until reaching maturity, which can take up to twelve to eighteen months. This can depend further on variety and growing conditions.
What should I do with my cordyline when it arrives?
Place in a cool place, unwrap and repot in a well drained potting mix, add an organic fertiliser or a slow release fertiliser if this is your preference and water. Keep in a shaded well lit position, and if a full sun plant, introduce the plant to the sun over a week or so. If planting in the ground, dig a suitable hole, add fertiliser and mix thoroughly, then plant your cordyline. Do not press the soil down around the plant as this will stop water penetrating the soil.
In most instances except for bulk orders your plants will be barerooted (this involves removing all potting mix and wrapping the roots in a moistened material), labelled, packed into postage tubes and sent by Australia Post, and most instances orders will be sent on a Monday to allow five working days to arrive in the best condition possible. For orders exceeding 25 plants please contact us by email prior to ordering online.
Some cordylines will tolerate sun better than others. Our descriptions will state what plants will tolerate sun and which plants require dappled light or semi shade.
